Meet Cowper

Every creator we know runs the same broken pipeline. Inspiration lives in bookmarks and screenshots. The phrasings that actually worked are buried somewhere in a chat history. Every new draft starts with re-explaining who you are to an AI that forgot you the moment the tab closed.

General-purpose chat can write words. What it can’t do is remember your voice, keep your templates, or tell you what to write next. That’s the gap Cowper is built for.

The loop

Cowper is a desktop content system organized around one path:

1. Inspire — funnel creators you follow, industry news, trends and stray thoughts into one inbox.
2. Distill — turn what works into your own templates, catchphrases and preferences.
3. Create — pick a topic and draft inside the app; one final version, no file mess.
4. Publish — export to a file or clipboard only when you hit publish, then post it yourself.
5. Review — paste the numbers back in and let AI debrief what worked.
6. Recommend — reviews write back into the system, so the next suggestion sounds like you.

The end feeds the start. That’s the whole point: the longer you use it, the more it writes like you.

Free app, your compute

The desktop app is free. Writing runs on your own OpenAI-compatible API key — paste a base URL and key into Settings and you’re drafting. We don’t sell tokens, and we don’t proxy your writing through our servers.

Local-first, by design

Everything lives in the .cowper folder on your machine. Drafts are maintained inside the app as structured data; files are only written out when you export. No cloud account required to get value on day one.
